Information architecture vs. navigation

Navigation is one visible expression of IA. The architecture is the underlying organization; navigation is how the product exposes that organization.

A menu can look clean while still representing a confusing structure.

Information architecture vs. user flow

IA describes where information and functionality live. A user flow describes the sequence a user takes to complete a goal.

The two influence each other. Poor structure often creates longer, less predictable flows.
